Get ready to conquer the world!
Welcome to panOULU Conqueror! Conqueror is a location-based pervasive multiplayer game - one which is played by physically moving from a panOULU access point to another. Teams can attack the access points to try to conquer them; points are given if the team controls the AP at next midnight. If any other team captures the AP before midnight, that team gets the points insted. It is possible to defend one's access points simply by being connected to it, so don't let your rivals get the AP's for free!
panOULU Conqueror is free, so if you're interested, simply register and start capturing access points! You may also invite more players to your team, to help you in your effort. Read also the rules and a little more about the game.
Welcome!

2009-09-08 Unavailable access points
There is a number of access points that we do not receive logging information for. It means also that even though they may appear on the game map, they cannot be conquered. So, if you are using panOULU somewhere but the locationing does not work, you may be in one of the places where the game does not work. Please se the access points marked blue in the access point list for a nearly complete list of APs that are not part of the game.
2009-09-08 Locationing problems - should be fixed now
(2009-09-07) Locationing was mostly broken this evening because of adding more web servers to handle the very high load the players have been causing on our primary server. The problem has now been fixed. Sorry, it won't happen again.
(2009-07-08) Some more locationing fixes were added to the game today. If you still have problems finding your location, contact conqueror@panoulu.net.

2009-08-31 Game launch tournament starts next week
A panOULU Conqueror tournament will be held from Monday 2009-09-07 to Sunday 2009-10-04. During this time teams of at most six (6) players compete with each other by capturing AP's and collecting as many points as possible. The winning team will receive awards, which will be announced later. We hope that all tournament players participated in a survey, which is used to analyse the impact of location-based pervasive gaming in the use of a public wireless network, such as panOULU. The survey will be published in late September, before the end of the tournament.
